Directed by Basil Dearden - 1958

Our entire series has been leading to this; tonights Violent Playground encounter. And we couldn’t be happier. Filmed entirely on the streets of Liverpool, this tense & realistic look at poverty stricken delinquents overflows with striking & crisp camerawork plus an intelligent script. Director Dearden, known for tackling controversial subject matter such as gay lifestyle intimidation (Victim) and integrated marriages (All Night Long), here goes beyond exploitation with his semi-documentary approach to the harsh consequences
of those engulfed by desperation. His handling of the children caught in the crossfire of teen violence is particularly tactful & human. Sincere, top notch performances by all plus literate screenplay and splendidly panned & lensed cinematography make Violent Playground a unique film experience and one you will never forget.
Please Note: This film is unavailable on DVD, Home Video and TV broadcasts.
